The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9:15 A.M. In the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is posted on the North wall of the chamber and brochures available on the guest desk. Krotz made a motion to accept the agenda. Andersen seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 9-9-2013. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board audited and approved claims.
Road Superintendent Tom Kuester reported that state inspectors recently examined the Rath and Sandoz bridges. These are the County’s only “fracture critical” bridges. Fracture critical bridges are subject to collapse if any element of the structure should fail. Kuester reported that the inspectors were not prepared to deal with the Rath bridge, due to the height.
At 11 A.M. The board opened the duly published 2013-2014 budget hearing. No citizens appeared to offer testimony. At 11:17 A.M. The budget hearing was closed. Andersen made a motion to set the 2013-2014 tax levy at .453933 which is lower than the 2012-2013 tax levy of .463933. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Krotz made a motion to adopt resolution #2013-19 adopting the budget and appropriating the funds for the 2013-2014 budget. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
