The Board of Education of Hay Springs Public Schools District #3 and the Hay Springs School Community Foundation board held a joint meeting on December 9, 2013 at the school cafeteria. Notice of the said meeting was published in the November 20, 2013 edition of the Sheridan County Journal Star. The joint meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Board of Ed President Langford. The open meeting law notice was pointed out. The joint board discussed the installation and use of the new security camera system. Notice of video recording and reminders to lock up and turn off lights will be placed at most entrances. The security system has already been a valuable tool to review doors left unlocked and unauthorized use. Notice will be issued through the school newsletter and local papers that holders of button keys for Lister-Sage will need to renew their membership. Any button keys not renewed will be turned off by January 31, 2014. Membership costs are yearly: $100 plus a $20 key deposit for 18 years to senior citizen; and $50 plus a $20 key deposit. The Lister-Sage/School Maintenance agreement was reviewed – no changes are needed at this time. HSSCF President Bev Lee and School Superintendent Pummel stay in regular contact. The meeting adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
