The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9:05 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is posted on the North wall of the chamber and brochures available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 2-24-2014 with corrections. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board did not meet as the Board of Equalization due to the absence of Assessor, Trudy Winter.
The board visited about the Sheridan County Transportation Van. Northwest Community Action will lease the new van from the County for $1/month. The old van will be returned to the County. Krotz made a motion to request authorization from Nebraska Department of Transportation to dispose of the obsolete Dodge Mini Van by means of public auction. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board met with Road Superintendent Tom Kuester to review the policy regarding employee use of County vehicles. The board felt that the current practice is within IRS regulations.
Kuester reported that bids for a new motor grader would be opened on March 24 at 9:30 A.M. at the Commissioners meeting. Kuester stated that he is requesting bids for only new graders because of the high cost of repairs on used equipment.
Andersen made a motion to authorize Kuester to sell some scrap iron valued at less than $500. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Extension Educator Cindy Tusler was scheduled to present an update on the Extension Office but was unable to attend.
Building & Grounds Superintendent Dwaine Sones reported that he is working on the list of projects that was presented to him.
