The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9:35 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is posted on the North wall of the chamber and brochures available on the guest desk. Krotz made a motion to accept the agenda. Andersen seconded the motion. All voted aye. Andersen made a motion to approve the minutes of 3-17-2014. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board audited and approved salary claims and signed claim checks.
Road Superintendent Tom Kuester and representatives of NMC CAT and Murphy Tractor and Equipment appeared before the board for the opening of bids for a new motor grader. NMC CAT submitted 4 bids and Murphy submitted 2 bids. The board asked Kuester to review them and make his recommendation to the board on March 27 at 10 A.M.
Clint Andersen appeared to report that the County Extension Office is running smoothly after the resignation of Educator Cindy Tusler and the leaving of Deb Austin. Andersen explained about some anxiety amongst the local leaders regarding the intentions of the University regarding the future of the program. Few details are available at this time but Andersen will keep the board informed.
The board made a tour of the office of County Court Magistrate to discuss possible improvements for security.
