The Sheridan County Board of Equalization met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is posted on the North wall of the chamber and brochures available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Andersen made a motion to approve the minutes of 4-14-2014. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board meet with Assessor Trudy Winter and County Attorney Dennis King to prepare for a “Show Cause Hearing” before the state Tax Equalization and Review Commission scheduled for Wednesday April 30, 2014 at noon. The state is requiring a substantial increase in the proposed value of irrigated land in Sheridan County. Assessor Winter is disputing the array of comparable sales upon which the state has based the increase. Interested parties are welcome to attend the hearing.
Winter also presented a correction sheet for the late Bob Hunter. Andersen made a motion to remove the 2013 Polaris ATV from the business personal property schedule. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. The ATV was used only for recreational and personal use by Bob.
