The Board of Education of Hay Springs Public Schools District #3 held its regular meeting on August 11, 2014 at the school cafeteria. Notice of the said meeting was published in the July 30, 2014 edition of the Sheridan County Journal Star. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Langford. Posting for Open Meeting Law was pointed out. All motions received unanimous approval unless otherwise stated. Matt Anderson, Mike Hunzeker, Brenda Johnson, Miriam Kearns, Everette Langford, Marilyn Reed. Superintendent Pummel was also present. The school year is off to a great start for both staff and students. A few more maintenance items have been completed in the last few days. After the meeting, the board take a tour to view completed maintenance items. Mr. Pummel recognized the excellent work the job corp does for the district. The bleachers on the east side of the field have been donated to Hay Springs Youth Baseball. The visitor section will now be included in the stands on the west side of the field. Concussion testing is almost complete. Inventory has been completed. An updated coach/sponsor list was reviewed. We have received our accreditation certificate for this year. A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Anderson to approve the minutes of July 14, 2014 regular meeting. A motion was made by Hunzeker and seconded by Reed to approve the minutes of July 14, 2014 student fee hearing as corrected. A motion was made by Kearns and seconded by Johnson to approve the minutes of July 14, 2014 board retreat. A motion was made by Hunzeker and seconded by Johnson to approve the agenda of the August 11, 2014 meeting. Lister Report: Buettner’s will be drawing up a proposal to fix the drainage issue on the east side of Lister-Sage. The HVAC filters need checked/changed periodically. School staff wishing to use Lister-Sage personally, must pay the membership fee. A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Anderson to move the September regular school board meeting to September 15th at 7:00 p.m. A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Hunzeker to approve the bills & payroll as presented. The meeting adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
