Commissioners Minutes July 21, 2014

The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 7-14-2014. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. 

The board approved salary claims and signed claim checks.

Sherry Retzlaff presented the board with a request for $3,527 from the Sheridan County Juvenile Justice Grant for the training of School Resource Officers. Chairman Kling signed the grant request. 

The board met with Eloise Kampbell about questions on her salary claim. 

The board signed resolution #2014-13 to impose an additional sales tax of 2% on lodging in the county and to establish a County Visitor’s Improvement Fund and a Visitor’s Committee. A public hearing was held on June 9, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. 

Krotz made a motion to approve the renewal of the County’s membership in the Panhandle Area Development District (PADD) for the 2014-2015 budget year. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

The board reviewed a zoning request from Viaero Wireless for a cell tower site approximately 12 miles north of Ellsworth. The board visited with Zoning Administrator Jerry Larson by telephone. Andersen made a motion to approve the request for Viaero Wireless. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

Road Superintendent Tom Kuester reported that his road crews have nearly completed repairs on roads damaged by recent heavy rains. 

The board discussed the impact of LB 560 concerning information that is reported on an exempt employees pay stub. The board will request the counsel of the County Attorney on the matter.

At 9:30 the board reconvened as the Board of Equalization to continue hearing Property Valuation Protests.
