The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ron Housh at 7:00 p.m. It was noted that the Open Meetings Act is posted. Councilpersons Randy Turman, Jim Varvel, Jerry Matthews and Keith Kearns were present. Jami Simmons was not present.
Ted Baseggio made a presentation on the Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance plan. BCBS is offering an optional renewal date of September 1st at a 1.92% rate increase. If the City stays with the current December 1st renewal it could be a 4-5% rate increase. Also, if the City moves to the September 1st renewal, the current policy can be kept in place through August 2017. If the current plan with the December 1st renewal is kept, the plan will have to move to an ACA plan on December 1, 2015. Based on his research, Mr. Baseggio suggests going with the September 1st renewal date.
Kearns made motion, Varvel seconded to stay with the current plan with a September 1, 2014 renewal date. All voted aye. Motion carried
Varvel made motion, Kearns seconded to adjourn at 7:16 p.m.
