The Sheridan County Board of Equalization met in regular session at 10:30 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Assessor Winter presented the board with a correction sheet. Krotz made a motion to approve a tax refund for Nebraska Beef in the amount of $178.86 due to an error in the 2013 valuation set by the BOE and incorrectly recorded by the Assessor. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Andersen made a motion to approve a correction sheet to accelerate the 2014 personal property tax for Brian Evans due to a move outside the county. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Dan Otte appeared before the board to request a waiver of the penalty on the late filing of his personal property schedule. Otte stated that he had made the effort to file the schedule in a timely fashion. Andersen made a motion to wave the penalty for the 2014 personal property schedule. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
County Clerk, Sindy Coburn brought it to the attention of the board that corrections had been made to a couple of the protest valuation decisions made by the Board of Equalization. Assessor Winter informed the board that she had corrected and re-issued two property valuation decisions made by the Board of Equalization. Winter stated that the corrections were a matter of miscalculation. After a telephone conference with County Attorney, Dennis King the board made the changes. Krotz made a motion to change parcel number #810070626 and #810020467. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. The board asked the Assessor to seek prior approval for any such corrections in the future.
