The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9:30 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 8-18-2014 with corrections. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board signed salary checks for August.
Dean Carpenter of Chadron approached the board to request the repair of historical markers for Camp Sheridan and Spotted Tail Agency. Carpenter presented the board pictures. Commissioner Krotz will present the pictures to members of the Historical Society.
Various elected and appointed officials met with the board and budget consultant Pete Peterson to review budget requests. Discussion will continue on Tuesday, September 2.
Andersen made a motion to exceed the budget authority for the 2014-2015 year by 1% from 2.5 to 3.5%. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Krotz made a motion to grant tax authority to the Sheridan County Agricultural Society in the amount of $45,000 and the Sheridan County Historical Society in the amount of $6,530. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Tax authority to all other political subdivisions was denied.
