Commissioners Minutes September 15, 2014

The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9:35 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse.  All members present.  Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk.  Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda.  Krotz seconded the motion.   All voted aye.  Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 9-8-2014.  Andersen seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.  

The board audited and approved claims.

Link Thompson approached the board with a request to purchase material from a county pit.  Kuester will work with the pit owner and Thompson to purchase material from the pit owner.  

Andersen made a motion to declare a retired BOSS snowplow as surplus and approve the sale of it to the village of Clinton for $1800.  Krotz seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.

At 10 A.M. the board opened a hearing on the proposed 2014-15 Budget.  No citizens appeared to give testimony but the board did receive a letter from Rudy Stanko protesting the amount allocated for the office of County Attorney.  The hearing was closed at 10:20 A.M and the proposed budget was adopted.  

Krotz made a motion to set the 2014-15 Sheridan County Tax Levy at .409075 which is different than the 2012-13 Tax Levy of .453933.  Andersen seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.    

Andersen made a motion to approve resolution #2014-15 adopting and appropriating funds for the 2014-2015 Sheridan County Budget.  Krotz seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.  

Commissioner Andersen informed the board that the Office of Human Development is interested in the Handi-bus that the county is selling.  OHD had a van totaled in an accident and are looking to replace it.  The board will visit with the state about the sale of it to another entity. 

Rick Willis the area representative for Congressman Adrian Smith appeared before the board to ask if they had and legislative concerns.  Discussion was had.
