Board of Equalization Minutes April 13, 2015

The Sheridan County Board of Equalization met in regular session at 10:20 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Krotz made a motion to accept the agenda. Andersen seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 3-16-2015. Kling seconded the motion. With a roll call vote-Krotz and Kling aye, Andersen abstained.

Assessor Amanda Lane presented correction sheets for consideration. Krotz made a motion to approve the acceleration of tax on a mobile home owned by Bruce & Gyna Gordon that has moved to South Dakota. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

Andersen made a motion to approve the acceleration of tax on a mobile home owned by John Rouillard that has moved to South Dakota. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

Andersen made a motion to deny an exemption application for Hands of Faith Ministries, Inc. which was denied by the Assessor because you cannot exempt a vacant lot. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Assessor Lane will write a letter explaining the situation to Curtis Hoyt the executive director of Hand of Faith Ministries, Inc. 

Assessor Lane visited with the board about values that didn’t transfer over on the computer. As per instructions from John Canon and Mark Loose of the State Department of Revenue the board has to give the approval to correct. Anderson made a motion to allow the Assessor’s office to make corrections to the State File Values on Ag land. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

Andersen made a motion to approve changes to irrigated acres for George Nason as per surveys provided. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

Krotz made a motion to approve changes to the type of soil listed on parcel of ag land in the estate of Dorothy Bottorff. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
