The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Krotz made a motion to accept the agenda. Andersen seconded the motion. All voted aye. Andersen made a motion to approve the minutes of 8-17-2015 with corrections. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board signed claim checks and audited and approved salary claims.
Krotz made a motion to go into executive session at 9:04 A.M. to discuss personel. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
At 9:30 Andersen made a motion to come out of executive session. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. No decision made.
Road Superintendent Kuester reported that he is waiting on a bill from Roberts Electric to submit to the Insurance Company regarding the fire at the Hay Springs Shop. Andersen made a motion to authorize Kuester to deal with all matters concerning insurance payments for the restoration of the Hay Springs shop. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Kuester reported that Jason Scott has a crew working on hauling pit run on his road.
Budget Consultant Pete Peterson met with the Board and Elected and appointed Officials to discuss the budget for 2014-15. The valuation of taxable county property was increased by $110,000,000 over last year, however the budget requests from the departments increased by approximately $360,000. Several cuts were made and Petersen will make the changes and have the second draft of the budget ready for consideration at the September 14 meeting.
The board reviewed a Property Tax Authority Resolution. Andersen made a motion to grant property tax authority to the following political subdivisions: Agricultural Society $45,000, Historical Society $6,530, Road District #31 $5,714.04, Road District #33 $10,257.82 and Road District #36 $4,750. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote- Krotz and Andersen aye and Kling nay.
