The Sheridan County Board of Equalization met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Krotz made a motion to accept the agenda. Andersen seconded the motion. All voted aye. Andersen made a motion to approve the minutes of 9-28-2015. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
County Assessor Amanda Lane and County Treasurer Peg Sones met with the board to visit about distress warrants. Sheriff Robbins has reported that his department can not find the personal property to seize. The board informed them that they should visit with the County Attorney.
Lane presented the board with 4 correction sheets for approval. Krotz made a motion to approve a correction sheet for Rosanne Fry on property that was under permissive exemption and is now owned by a private party. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Andersen made a motion to approve a correction sheet for the ABOUT Group to remove a value in the computer as it should not be present because it is a permissive exemption. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Andersen made a motion to approve a correction sheet for Sheridan County Historical Society to remove a value in the computer as it should not be present because it is a permissive exemption. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
James Holverson appeared to discuss with the board the difficulties he encountered when his tax notice was delivered to the wrong address. Holverson explained that he has lived in the same residence since 2007. County Treasurer Peg Sones stated that up until this last year his notices have always went to his Mortgage Company. Sones stated that her office never got any notice of wrong address back from the postal service. Holverson stated that he had to pay $48 in late fees and would like to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. The board apologized for any inconvenience and thanked Holverson for bringing this to their attention.
Assessor Lane informed the board that she has found a better and cheaper appraisal system. However, Lane explained that the County is under contract with GIS through 2017. The board advised her to visit with the County Attorney.
