Board of Equalization Minutes December 28, 2016

The Sheridan County Board of Equalization met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. Present were Chairman Dan Kling, Commissioners Jack Andersen and James Krotz, Deputy County Clerk Geri Ann Landreth, Assessor Amanda Lane, Treasurer Peg Sones and Mark Gaschler of the Sheridan County Journal Star. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provision of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 11-09-2015. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

Lane presented the Board Permissive Exemption Applications. The American Legion Club application was denied because the Legion Bar now served 40 hours per week so it must then be considered a commercial establishment. The deadline for submission is December 31.

Lane and Sones presented a list of 8 delinquent tax accounts. Craig Wells, ID#810164788, Scott Cable Communication Inc., ID#810125331, Kelly and Lesa Parker ID#810165860, Michael Calitri, dba MSK Golf, LLC ID#810165681, Local Pride ID#810165497, Lucas Smith ID#810165577, Frederick Hudd Daringer ID#810165384, and Vern American Horse ID#810165038. Krotz made a motion for Chairman Dan Kling to sign Resolution 2015-20 striking these from the tax list. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

Lane presented the following correction sheets to the Board.

Andersen made a motion to accelerate the taxes on a mobile home for the Brian Kernick Trust. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Krotz made a motion to correct a Homestead Exemption on a life-estate home for Kristy Winter. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve a Homestead Exemption for Brant and Moneen Rasmussen. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Krotz made a motion to change 3 properties of Nebraska/Colorado Cellular from “local” to “centrally” assessed. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.

Treasurer Sones advised the Board that she will no longer be accepting partial payments of taxes. Payments will need to be at least 1/2 of the yearly total.
