Commissioners Minutes February 22, 2016

The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse.  All members present.  Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk.  Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda.  Krotz seconded the motion.  All voted aye.  Andersen made a motion to approve the minutes of 2-8-2016.  Krotz seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.  

The board signed claim checks and audited and approved salary claims.

At 9:05 A.M. Krotz made a motion to go into closed session with County Attorney Jamian Simmons to discuss a legal matter.  Andersen seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.  

At 9:44 A.M. Andersen made a motion to come out of closed session.  Krotz seconded the motion.  No decision made.  With a roll call vote all voted aye. 

Road Superintendent Tom Kuester presented the board with a request from Jake Hahn for an agriculture related approach to the county right-of-way on 470th Lane.  Andersen made a motion to approve the approach request.  Krotz seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.  

Kuester informed the board that he contracted with Bosselmans for 40,000 gallons of diesel fuel at $1.48/gallon for 2016.   

Sheriff Robbins discussed the purchase of a 4x4 crew-cab pickup as a patrol vehicle.  Ford Motor company no longer manufactures the Crown Victoria that long served as the police vehicle.  Robbins stated that the Taurus is a good vehicle but not in the deep snow that we get.  The board agreed with Sheriff Robbins that the truck was a good option.  Sides and Milburn has the state-bid at a cost of $31,839.    Robbins stated that he had budget $32,000 for a vehicle.

Andersen made a motion to appoint Muffy Forney to the Extension Board to fill a vacancy.  Krotz seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.  

The board discussed membership in the Panhandle Area Development District (PADD) for another year.  Krotz made a motion to renew membership for 2016 appointing Andersen as the primary representative and Kling as the secondary representative. Andersen seconded the motion.  With a roll call vote all voted aye.  

The board visited about pending legislation.  No action was taken.
