The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Andersen made a motion to approve the minutes of 5-9-2016. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Miles Bannan and another representative from New York Life Insurance were present to visit with the board about making life insurance an option for Sheridan County Employees. Krotz made a motion to grant approval to make New York Life an approved pay-roll deduction option for County employees. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Road Superintendent Tom Kuester reported that the 3 mile project on Banner Road has been completed and that 640 Road West of Hwy 87 was ready for gravel as soon as weather permits. Work on the 6 mile stretch of 590 Road East of the Rushville cemetery will begin soon. Kuester showed the board pictures of roads that have been consumed by water.
County Attorney Jamian Simmons, Road Superintendent Kuester, GIVE Director Jeannette Graber, Veteran Service Officer Gary Sones, Building Superintendent Dwaine Sones and Sheriff Terry Robbins all met with the board to further discuss the County policy on vacation time and carry-over.
Krotz made a motion to extend a buy out for excess vacation hours to be paid out in July 1, 2016. Discussion was had. Krotz made a motion to withdraw his motion. No decision made at this time. Andersen made a motion to adjourn at 11:45 A.M. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
