The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. Kling and Krotz present Andersen excused. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Krotz made a motion to accept the agenda. Kling seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 8-8-2016. Kling seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board audited and approved claims.
Senator Al Davis met with the board to report on legislation that he felt was of concern to county government. Those of particular concern where valuations of agricultural land, school funding and inheritance tax issues.
Road Superintendent Tom Kuester reported that a county motor grader parked near 600th Road and 130th Lane had been vandalized over the weekend.
Kuester informed the board that his crew would begin applying gravel to 130th Trail (Shell Lake Road) this week.
The board rescheduled a subdivision request for next week.
Assessor Amanda Lane asked the board for approval to dispose of surplus office equipment. The board suggested that she ask other offices if they were in need of any of the equipment, then offer it to the GIVE thrift store for sale.
The board discussed the Property Tax Authorization to Political Subdivisions. It was decided to hold off until next week when the budget consultant is present along with a full board.
