School Board Meeting Minutes Hay Springs Public Schools, September 12, 2016

Called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Vice President Johnson. Pledge of Allegiance. Posting for Open Meeting Law was pointed out. Roll Call: Present –Matt Anderson, Brenda Johnson, Everette Langford, and Marilyn Reed. Superintendent Cline was also present. Board Member Excusal – A motion was made by Anderson and seconded by Langford to approve the absence of Hunzeker. VOTE: Y-Anderson, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Y-Langford, Y-Reed Open Forum-Admin Reports: Superintendent Report –Mr. Cline reported that enrollment is down slightly from last year. Allen Gross will be here this month to complete the annual safety review. Three photographers were interviewed – Bev Lee (Moments) was chosen to be the school photographer.  Assistant Principal Report – Current graduation requirements were reviewed as well as what is required by the state. Activity Director Report –Nine students and 2 coaches presented information on the Life of an Athlete program.  Public Comment – None.  Discussion Items – Lister Sage: No motion. Kearns and Hunzeker were unable to attend the Lister board meeting. Kearns reported that there are still raffle tickets for sale. Board Conflict of Interest: The board was given new board conflict of interest forms to complete and return. Approval of the Minutes A motion was made by Kearns and seconded by Reed to table approval of the minutes of the July 11, 2016 regular board meeting. VOTE: Y-Anderson, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Y-Langford, Y-Reed A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Anderson to approve the minutes of the August 8, 2016 regular meeting. VOTE: Y-Anderson, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Y-Langford, Y-Reed A motion was made by Kearns and seconded by Reed to approve the minutes of the August 9, 2016 special board meeting. VOTE: Abstain-Anderson, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Abstain-Langford, Y-Reed A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Kearns to approve the minutes of the August 23, 2016 special board meeting with correction: Langford to S Langford. VOTE: Abstain-Anderson, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Abstain-Langford, Y-Reed Approval of the Agenda A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Reed to approve the agenda of the September 12, 2016 meeting. VOTE: Y-Anderson, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Y-Langford, Y-Reed New Business-Approval of the Final Tax Request A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Kearns to approve the final tax request as presented. VOTE: Y-Anderson, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Y-Langford, Y-Reed Approval of 2016-2017 School District Budget A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Kearns to approve the 2016-2017 school district budget. VOTE: Y-Anderson, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Y-Langford, Y-Reed Policy-NASB A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Kearns to approve the updated Computer/Technology policy. VOTE: Y-Anderson, Y-Hunzeker, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Y-Langford, Y-Reed (Hunzeker arrived at 6:46pm) Approval of Bills & Payroll A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Anderson to approve bills and payroll - Payroll - $169,759.40 and Bills – $37,797.49. VOTE: Y-Anderson, Y-Hunzeker, Y-Johnson, Y-Kearns, Y-Langford, Y-Reed Items for the Next Meeting – Parental Involvement Policy, Minutes of July 11, 2016.
