The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 9-12-2016. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board signed claim checks and audited and approved salary claims.
At 9:15 A.M. the board opened the Budget Hearing for 2016-2017 budget. No citizens appeared to offer testimony. There being no public comment, the hearing was closed at 9:30 A.M.
Andersen made a motion to approve Resolution #2016-11 voting to exceed the limit provided for a fiscal year, by up to an additional one percent of the base amount for restricted funds authority; for a total increase of three and one-half percent in the restricted funds authority for Fiscal Year 2016-2017. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Andersen made a motion to approve Resolution #2016-12 adopting the budget for the 2016-2017 fiscal year. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Krotz made a motion to approve Resolution 2016-13 setting the 2016-2017 tax rate at .344843 which is different rate than last year. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Krotz made a motion to approve Resolution #2016-14 authorizing a petty cash fund for County Court in the amount of $500. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Road Superintendent Tom Kuester met with the board to discuss the purchase of a new semi. Dawes County just bid for a semi and Kuester is contemplating on using that bid for his purchase. State statues do permit such action. Kuester will review the bids and report back to the board.
Gary Ruse of GUSH Water company appeared to present an offer of bottled water to the County. The board agreed to allow GUSH water dispensers to be put in the Courhtouse Lobby, County Court and Probation Office as a trial use.
