Board of Equalization Minutes March 13, 2017

The Sheridan County Board of Equalization met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Andersen stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Paul made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 2-13-17. Paul seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Deputy County Assessor, Tina Skinner met with the board and presented them with a correction sheet. Paul made a motion to accelerate the tax on a mobile home owned by Gladys Petersen since it is being removed from the County. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye. Skinner presented the board with a letter from the State Department of Revenue concerning deficiencies in the assessments and assessment practices for commercial and residential properties in Sheridan County. Susan Lore, a property valuation consultant was also present. Lore will assist with the preparation of a response to the Department of Revenue. The board will also review a contract with Lore to help get Sheridan County in compliance with the Department. County Treasurer, Peg Sones presented the board with an Application for Exemption from Motor Vehicle Tax for Hands of Faith Ministries that was filed on the 27th day of February, 2017. Sones has recommended disapproval of the application due to it not being received within 30 days from date of purchase. The board has set a public hearing date on March 27, 2017 at 9 A.M.
