The Sheridan County Board of Equalization met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Paul stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Andersen made a motion to approve the minutes of 2-26-2018. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye.
Assessor Tina Skinner presented the board with three correction sheets for consideration. Krotz made a motion to correct the value on parcel #810008908 for Dohse Auto Sales to the value set by BOE last year. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Krotz made a motion to remove a utility building from William Griswold property as it has been taxed on two properties. Parcel #810082810. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Teri Hunzeker was present to visit with the board about the process of assessment and notification of values set by the assessor. Hunzeker feels that the public needs to be better informed about the process. The board informed Hunzeker that it is the taxpayer’s responsibility to review their property records with the Assessor to be sure they are accurately recorded. Hunzeker explained that she has been being valued on the wrong square footage and other inaccuracies. The board gave Hunzeker the county website and informed her that she could look up her records thru the GIS link. Assessor Skinner informed her that the county does send notice when the value changes.
Krotz made a motion to correct parcel #810077159 making the necessary corrections on the Hunzeker residence. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
