VALENTINE, Neb. (AP) - A free fishing clinic for children has been scheduled for Saturday at the Valentine State Fish Hatchery.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the clinic will start at 10 a.m., regardless of whether there’s rain. Free fishing gear will be provided by the Nebraska Walleye Association and other sponsors.
Kids will learn about tying knots, about casting lures and baits, about fish identification and about water and boat safety.
The participants then will fish in one of the hatchery ponds stocked with rainbow trout.
The hatchery is situated on the northeast side of Valentine in northern Nebraska’s Cherry County.
