Chadron State Park is gearing up for Fur Trade Funday, an afternoon of entertaining competitions for both children and adults. The events will be Sunday, July 12.
The Crooked Arrow Obstacle Course, in which competitors will run through, jump over, and duck under a variety of challenging objects, will begin at 1 p.m. at the park’s baseball field. Following that, at approximately 2 p.m., the annual Fur Trade Regatta, featuring canoe races for all ages and paddleboating for children, will hit the water at the newly renovated park pond. Registration for each event will begin a half hour before start time.
Cosponsored by the Chadron Kiwanis Club, the events are part of Chadron’s annual Fur Trade Days celebration, July 9-12.
The two events are free but vehicles in the park must have a Nebraska park entry permit. It can be purchased online at outdoornebraska.org, at the park office, or other vendors across the state.
