CUSTER, S.D. (AP) - A documentary about a secretive polygamist group will be screened at a school in the same county as the sect’s remote Black Hills compound.
The Rapid City Journal (http://bit.ly/1MOV1aq) reports that ``Prophet’s Prey’’ will be played Nov. 21 at Custer High School.
Sam Brower is a private investigator who has researched the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His book on the FLDS was adapted into the documentary.
The FLDS is headquartered in a community along the Arizona-Utah border. Members believe polygamy brings exaltation in heaven.
The group’s fenced-in South Dakota compound, complete with a guard tower, sits in a remote area near Pringle.
Brower says issues at the Arizona-Utah community and recent approval to draw water more quickly in South Dakota could lead to a population spike at the compound.
