Alliance, Nebraska –State Regent Betty Albanez and Honorary State Regent Beth Haring of the Nebraska Society Daughters of the American Revolution, announced today that the organization has scheduled a ceremony in which a memorial bench will be dedicated at Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance. The state veteran’s cemetery recently opened locations on the Memorial Walk for placement of monuments to recognize specific groups or individuals that have sacrificed for our nation’s freedom. When Honorary State Regent Beth Haring heard of this opportunity to honor Nebraska Veterans she immediately made plans to donate her Honorary State Regent Funds to participate and donate a memorial bench. A formal dedication ceremony, open to the public, is scheduled for Saturday, August 11th, at 10:30 a.m. At that time, members of several DAR chapters will meet to continue their mission, “to honor and remember all veterans and their families who fought to create and defend our country.” The memorial bench made of Georgia Gray granite and displaying the DAR logo will be a permanent monument standing just inside the state veteran cemetery’s front entrance. Immediately after the dedication of the memorial bench there will be a reception for Nebraska DAR members and guests hosted by Point of Rock Chapter DAR. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 and is one of the world’s largest and most active service organizations.
