Roger Duane Kehn, 62, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2013. He passed away at home after a three year courageous battle with cancer.
Roger was born on May 9th, 1950 in Gordon, Nebr., to Conrad and Lovaletta Kehn. Roger was raised on a farm near Batesland, SD. He attended school at Martin, SD and Gordon, Nebr.
Roger met Lori Sue Hunter in Chadron, Nebr. They were married at the Methodist Church on May 6th, 1978 in Chadron. They had one son, Austin on July 27, 1993.
Roger worked at various ranches and did some motocross racing before starting his long railroad career for the BNSF in 1977. Roger worked as a laborer – stationary engineer for several years before retiring from the railroad in July 2012.
Roger was a fun loving, kind hearted guy who loved to fish and hunt. Fishing was his passion. He was known as chef Rogeo in the heating plant and grilled the meals for his co-workers as well as taking care of the heating plant duties. Roger was known for his hot salsa. He was an avid Husker fan and loved to eat his chips and salsa while watching the husker games. He was best known for his woodworking talents. He loved to make clocks. His legacy will live on in everyone’s hearts. Roger will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Roger is survived by his wife, Lori and son, Austin, brother Larry Kehn of Batesland, SD, sister Gloria Kehn of Rapid City, SD, parents-in-law Dean and JoAnn Hunter, brother-in-laws Jerry and Craig Hunter of Timber Lake, SD and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Kehn Gartzke.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Alliance. Pastor Bob Mortvedt will officiate. Roger’s body was donated to the Anatomical Board of the State of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebr. for research.
