Viola Agnes Hartman Webb died at the home of her daughter, Charlotte Ward, April 4, 2013 in Gordon. She was born May 21, 1914 in Orchard, Antelope County, Nebr. to Roy Lewis Hartman and Clara Elizabeth Beed. She was 98 years, 10
months and 14 days.
Viola moved to Gordon from Mason, Nebraska in the 1970’s and worked at the Ideal Market for a while, then on to the Gordon Clinic until 1985. She left the clinic to help her step-father, Pete Hans work the Tomahawk Trailer and RV Park.
Viola loved being outdoors, and she especially loved the hot weather. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in the garden.
She was preceded in death by her father Roy Lewis Hartman, mother Clara Elizabeth Beed, step-father Fred “Pete” Hans, brother Edward Hartman, husband Kenneth Webb, son Gene William Sheffer, son-in-law Harry William Ward and nephews Dick and Roger Hartman.
Viola is survived by her daughters Charlotte Sheffer Ward of Gordon; Barbara Sheffer Rigg of Washington and son Fred Leroy Sheffer of California. Seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren, one niece, Jerry Hartman Malmberg of Gordon and Jim Hartman of Minnesota.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 6th at 10:00 am at the Gordon Cemetery. President Mark Tiensvold of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints officiated. Pallbearers were William Grant, Eric Malmberg, Ken Ward, Shawn Grant, Kenny Gibson and Dave Cassatt.
