Teresa (Terry) Lee Tiensvold Mapes was born July 21, 1959 to Lloyd (Buddy) and Ila Tiensvold in Rushville, Nebraska.  She died on February 12, 2014 in the Rapid City Regional Hospital.  As a young girl, she lived with her family on a farm and in Rushville, Nebraska.  Terry graduated from Rushville High School in 1978 and received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from West Nebraska Community College in Alliance, Nebraska.  She married Steve Bennett in 1981.   Steve and Terry had one child, Krystyn Renee Bennett Turman, born on November 24, 1984.  Terry married Pete Mapes in  2001.

Terry worked most of her life in the healthcare field, compassionately caring for the elderly.  Terry's unique ability to bring joy to her patients came from her genuine concern and beautiful smile.  She spent some time as a traveling nurse and was a private nurse for several elderly people.  Her care for these individuals catered to their needs and helped them to live with dignity and respect.  Helping other people, whatever the need, is what Terry most enjoyed.  She truly believed that "to give is to receive."   She was the proud, loving and fun grandmother to her three beautiful grandchildren.  Spending time with and caring for these children was an activity Terry loved.

Terry was a master crochter.   She spent hours creating beautiful blankets, hats, clothes and pot holders.  Giving those hand-crafted items to others gave Terry much satisfaction.  Informally, she was a teacher of needlecraft and offered lessons in a patient manner to anyone who needed help.

Terry is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ila Tiensvold and grandparents, Arthur and Celia Kriegshauser and Lloyd and Kathryn Tiensvold.

Survivors include her daughter, Krystyn (Jerry) and three grandchildren:  Mya, Jaydub and Duke.  Nine siblings:  Jim Tiensvold of San Diego, CA; Dave (Ruby) Tiensvold and Trisha (Mark) Loosvelt of Rushville, NE; Kathy Wolkow of Gordon, NE; Janice (Steve) Frayser and Linda (Verne) Hennessey of Lincoln, NE; Christy (Casper) Ningen of Hemingford, NE; Marilyn (Frank) Seidel of LaCrosse, KS; Becky (John) Shay of Stafford, VA; many, many nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are her beloved grandchildren: Mya, Jaydub and Duke Turman.
