Vern Carl Hupp

Vern Carl Hupp

Our Dad, Vern was born in Gordon, Nebraska to Opal and Albert Hupp. He attended Hay Creek School; a one room school heated by coal. Dad was the oldest of four brothers; Orville, Eugene and Harold. During WWII, while his brothers were overseas, he continued to work on the farm along with neighboring farms. Dad graduated from high school in 1947.

In 1952, Vern married Betty Wolfe. They continued to live in the Gordon area and were blessed with four children, Ron, Carolyn, Marty and Marilyn. Our family moved to Wenatchee in 1968 where Dad began his long-term career working for Alcoa. Dad retired from Alcoa in 1992.

Dad loved to travel. He made numerous trips back to Nebraska and Wyoming to visit his brothers and to attend many class reunions. His travels also included Mexico, Jamaica, and a tour of Europe with his granddaughter, Lisa. Dad also enjoyed watching football, sometimes with several TVs going at the same time! Of course, his favorite team was the Cornhuskers.

Dad leaves behind his children: Ron (Karla) Hupp of Wenatchee, WA, Carolyn (Bob) Faulconer of East Wenatchee, WA, Marty (Kaye) Hupp of Montgomery, AL, and Marilyn Martinson of East Wenatchee, WA. Nine grandchildren: Lisa, Erin, Tyler, Shalee, Aaron, Katie, Emily, Mikael, and Sarah. Also, four beautiful great grandchildren: Gunner, Sophie, Kristin and Sadie, as well as six nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers Orville (Ellen) Hupp and Eugene (Onda) Hupp and Harold Hupp. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, sisters in law Nadine Hupp and Mary Hupp of Nebraska.

We wish to thank the staff of Colonial Vista and Wenatchee Hospice for their loving care of Dad during his final months.

A memorial service will be held at Telfords on Monday, September 22, at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to Wenatchee Hospice.
