Nell Perrett

Nell May Perrett, age 95, died on Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Wibaux, Montana. Nell was born in Gordon, Nebraska, to Peter and Blanche Andersen, and grew up with 8 siblings. She became a school teacher and met a pupil’s older brother, Royce Perrett, who she wed in 1944. After WWII, Royce and Nell began ranching, which took them from the Sandhills of Nebraska, to Isabel, South Dakota and then Wibaux, Montana over the next 70 years. Nell developed polio in 1950, and though it made many changes in her life, she adapted and became an active member of many communities and was involved in many activities throughout her life.

Royce and Nell raised three children, Marc, Barbara and Jerry, who continued to be an important part of their lives. Nell was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile, a talented seamstress, and always a teacher. For many years, she was a 4-H leader, mentoring youth in the Isabel community. She became an acclaimed quilter and enjoyed collecting (especially thimbles), following bull riding, and watching her family grow. She so loved her children, their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and Royce.

Nell is survived by her husband Royce Perrett, who is on a ranch in Wibaux, brother Joe Andersen of Pinedale, Wyo., children Marc (Laurie) - Port Townsend, Wash., Barb Lutz (Arny) – Cheyenne, Wyo., Jerry (Rayetta) - Port Townsend, Wash., grandchildren Megan Huber (Andy) – Leavenworth, Kan., Courtney Pushcar (Shaun) – Sheridan, Wyo., and great grandchildren Hadley, Jonell and Hunter.

She will be remembered by those she touched with her love, grace, and kindness as well as for her independent spirit. Nell requested her ashes be returned to a private location in the Sandhills of Nebraska. A memorial service is planned for mid-June at the Grace Lutheran Church in the Skaar community north of Wibaux. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with Royce or at www.sivernalesilhafuneralhome.com . The family asks that flowers not be sent and that any memorial considerations be made to Sidney Chapter of the American Sewing Guild, 314 Road 101, Sidney, Montana 59270.
