Ruth Elaine McGaughey was born the second child of five to Robert K. McGaughey and Jessie Faubel McGaughey, on Jan. 20, 1926, at the McGaughey farmstead, four miles north of Gordon, Neb. She attended the Presbyterian Church in Gordon her entire life. She attended grade school at the Mount Pleasant Country School, through the eighth grade, with her other sisters and brother. Michael Wade Mockerman, 61, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at his home in Alliance, Neb.

He was born July 19, 1956, in Salina, Kan., to Linford Adam and Eleanor Louise (Johnson) Mockerman.  His father’s career took his family to several locations before moving to Gordon, Neb., where they lived before moving to Alliance prior to his senior year in high school.

Dean LeRoy Strong, 68, of Gordon died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at his home. He was born May 9, 1949 in Douglas, Wyoming to Rex and Olga Strong. He joined his older sister Diane, as the newest member of the family. Rex moved the family to Gordon, Nebraska two years later.

Merle was born on Aug. 12, 1922, in Gordon, Neb., to Susan (Sanders) and Charles Cutshall, and he passed away at his home in Wenatchee, Wash., on Nov. 5, 2017. Una Belle Landes, 96, of Bartlesville, Okla., died Monday in Bartlesville.

Una Belle was born the youngest of four children to her beloved parents on Nov. 27, 1921, in Ewing, Neb. Ruth Louise Shifflett Gealy, 96, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at Countryside Care in Gordon, Neb. She was born to Scott and Mary Shifflett in Earlham, Iowa, on Nov. 1, 1921. She graduated from Dexter, Iowa, High School in 1939, and attended college at Iowa State and Park College. Funeral services for Frances Young of Hay Springs, Neb., will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Hay Springs Cemetery.

Charlene Mae Palmer (Ireland), 78, of Pocatello Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017.  Born on Nov. 4, 1939, in Gordon Neb., to the late Robert and Mildred (Gardiner) Ireland.
