Donald Raymond “Don” Benben, 86, of North Loup passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at the North Loup United Methodist Church. Pastor Bonnie Brock will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Military Honors will be provided by Ralph R. Rich American Legion Post #285. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the North Loup

Arlin Eugene Lowe was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Gordon, Neb., to Sidney E. and Neola (Emily) Lowe. He passed away Feb. 15, 2018, at Tekamah Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tekamah, Neb., at the age of 82.

Bruce Michael Hoos was born on Feb. 27, 1956, to Robert and Marian (Eckerle) Hoos. He was the youngest of four. He and his three sisters grew up on the family ranch south of Rushville. Nick D. Dahlgren, 85, of Scottsbluff, Neb., went home to be with his Lord Jesus on February 11, 2018, at Skyview Care Center, Bridgeport, Neb. A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018, at Mitchell Berean Church with Pastor Giles Armstrong officiating. A private family burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery. Alta Jeanette (Gardiner) Haslow, 85, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Box Butte General Hospital, Alliance, Neb.

Alta was born March 22, 1932, in Gordon, Neb., to L. Jay and Evelyn B. (DeFrance) Gardiner. She attended elementary school at Merriman and Valentine. Before her sophomore year, she moved with her family to Gordon, where she graduated from high school in 1950.

Elnora Marie (Hauser) Bridge

Elnora Marie (Hauser) Bridge, 88, of Rushville, Neb., passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hay Springs, Neb.

Elnora was born Nov. 2, 1929, at Rockville, Neb., to Jacob Herman Hauser and Marie Louise (Obermiller) Hauser. She and younger brother Floyd along with their parents lived on a farm in Sherman County, NE until 1942 at which time the family moved to Rushville, Neb.

In 1946 Elnora contracted polio and spent 10 months in the Hot Springs, S.D., hospital


Shirley Evelyn Gardiner Whitney

Shirley Evelyn Gardiner Whitney was born to L. Jay and Evelyn B. Gardiner on June 8, 1933, where the family lived on a ranch north of Merriman, Neb. At a young age, the family moved to Red Deer Ranch, south of Valentine, where she loved being outside with her dad and loved riding her paint horse, pretending she was Gene Autry. She loved country living and being outside.

In 1947, the family relocated to Gordon, Neb., where Shirley attended and graduated from Gordon High School in 1951. In

Edward A. Becker, 88, of rural Chadron, died Jan. 8, 2018, at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance, where he had been a resident since suffering a stroke July 30, 2017.

Ed was born April 24, 1929, at Alliance to Edward M. and Thelma (Zoble) Becker.  He subsequently became the big brother to Arlene Minor, Maxine Morris and Charlene Hebbert.  Three other sisters, Irene Lowe, Darlene Bonifield and Delores Valentine preceded him in death, as well as his parents and two brothers, who


James Ray Jenkins

Born in Gordon, Nebraska on June 3, 1945, Jim Jenkins passed away with his loving family by his side on January 11, 2018.  He was the second son of Jean and Dorothy (Beckman) Jenkins and spent his childhood in Gordon, Nebraska.  He graduated from Gordon High School in 1963 and attended Chadron State College.
