James Wayne Goff

The good Lord called James Wayne Goff home on Nov. 19, 2016, at the age of 73.  Wayne died peacefully in his sleep in Reno, Nev., while visiting his daughter Staci Bayliss after a battle with multiple illnesses.

Wayne was born to James and Evelyn Goff on Feb. 21, 1943, in Murdo, S.D. He lived in White River, S.D., for several years where he spent time with his large extended family swimming in the power dam, horseback riding and raiding the neighbor’s watermelon patch.  His


Kenneth Dudley Hardin

Kenneth Dudley Hardin, 83, was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Gordon, Neb., to Dudley and Cecil (Heywood) Hardin. He passed away at his home in Gordon, on June 27, 2017.

He grew up near the Niobrara River southeast of Gordon with his parents, siblings and favorite dog, Don. This is where he learned to love the outdoors and “Hardin Park” was always home to him.

He graduated from Gordon High School in 1951, and then went to work in Twin Falls, Idaho, until he entered the US Army in 1955


Larry “Pete” DeWitt

Larry “Pete” DeWitt, 79, of Prescott, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Afton Care Center, Afton, Iowa.  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 104 N. Oak St., Creston, Iowa, with Pastor Duane Lauer officiating.  Burial will be a Mt. Sandra Sherene Redman

Sandra Sherene Redman, 70, of Gordon, Neb., passed away at home on Thursday, June 22, 2017, surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born Nov. 12, 1946, in Belle Fourche, S.D., to William and Helen Tripp. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1964 and attended Black Hills State College in Spearfish.

Sandy was united in marriage on Nov. 21, 1966, to Michael Starr. They had nine children and raised them in Belle Fourche until Mike unexpectedly


Dr. Floyd Harold Holmgrain, Jr

On Friday, June 16, 2017, Dr. Floyd Harold Holmgrain, Jr. of Mitchellville, Md., passed away.

He was the husband of the late Marlene Joan Holmgrain, father of Tripp and Randal Holmgrain (Sarah), brother of Phyllis Simpson, and Everett (Joan), Milton (Marie) and the late Ernest Holmgrain, grandfather of Amanda Birchell (Jesse), and Alex and Arya Holmgrain.  Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 2 p.m. at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 14900 Annapolis Rd.


Lavonne Burrows

The gates of Heaven opened for Mrs. Lavonne Burrows Monday morning, June 19, 2017, with her family by her side.

Lavonne was born to Clifford Davis and Josephine Peters Davis June 5, 1938. She attended Rushville High School and received her teacher’s certificate from Chadron State College.

On November 17, 1957, she married the love of her life, Bryan Burrows.  To this union five children were born:  Marlys, Carol, Alynn, Della, and Clifford.

Donald Dale DeHaven

Donald Dale DeHaven passed away on June 14, 2017 at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral services for Donald DeHaven will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, Nebraska with Father Todd Philipsen officiating. Burial will be held at the Hay Springs Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.

Bernard “PeeWee” Nile Bourne

Bernard “PeeWee” Nile Bourne was born to Joy J. Bourne and Marguerite (Lehman) Bourne on Nov. 2, 1940.  PeeWee passed away at his home on Larrabee Creek, north of Rushville, Neb., on June 4, 2017, surrounded by his family.

PeeWee is survived by his wife, Patsy Bourne; children, Lynn (Jodi) Bourne of Sheridan, Wyo., Roxanna (James) Puchner of Chadron, Neb., Rickta (Jim) Brownlow of Rushville, Neb., and Patricia (Michael) Coleman of Fort Thompson, S.D.; brother, Bryan (Sharon)


Tim Clair Anderson

Tim Clair Anderson was born July 19, 1949, in Hot Springs, S.D., to Wilbur C. and Helen M. (Vanchura) Anderson. He passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, at his home in Martin, S.D., at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 11 days.  He graduated from Bennett County High School, attended one year at USD in Vermillion, transferring to Chadron State College and graduated with a BS in Education in 1972 with an endorsement in Industrial Arts. Arlan Otto Marx

Arlan Otto Marx passed away on June 10, 2017, at Heart Center of the Rockies, Loveland, Colo.

Arlan was born on Feb. 27, 1927, in Scribner, Neb, the first child of Otto Ferdinand and Augusta Louise (Froeming) Marx.  He attended parochial school until he started high school in Scribner.  After his freshman year of high school, the family moved to Bridgeport, Neb.

James Wesley Borman

Jim was born on March 12, 1941, to Bessie and Doug Borman.

He died in the hospital in New York City on Oct. 2, 2016, from complications of a stroke. Jim grew up and attended school in Gordon, Neb. He was active in Thespians and the arts. Jim was a member of Saint Leo’s Catholic Church. He graduated from Gordon High School in 1959. Jim attended Regis University and graduated from DU in 1963, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Stacy DeWolfe-Shedeed

Stacy Glen DeWolfe was born March 26, 1958 in Rushville Nebraska to Donna Armstrong and James Harry DeWolfe. Stacy began his journey to the spirit world on June 6th, 2017 in Hot Springs, SD.

Stacy’s early days were filled with rodeo and country life which set the stage for the rest of his life. Stacy rodeoed as a teen and young adult trying his hand at bareback riding, saddle broncs and then switching to bull riding as his “cup of tea”. He qualified for the College National
