The Gordon-Rushville Lady Mustangs hosted the Ainsworth Bulldogs Saturday afternoon in a game played in Rushville due to a wrestling meet in Gordon. The game was physical, hard-fought battle as both teams opened the game with full-court pressure and played great defense. The first period ended with the Mustangs up 9-8. The second quarter didn’t get any easier, especially offensively for the Mustangs as they only scored four points in the period and found themselves down at the half 19-13.
The Mustangs mustered a little offense in the third quarter but were still down by three at the end of the period, 28-25. Once again, the Lady Mustangs battled to the final horn, but came up short 44-38.
Sara Marlatt led the team with 16 points. Brandi Roth and Cirsten Hinn each dropped 6 points. Morgan Sones and Ashton Sasse had 3 points each, while Hali Sahr and Cali Mulcahy added 2 points each. The difference in the game can be found at the free throw line where the Bulldogs were 15 of 27 and the Mustangs were 9 for 17.
The Lady Mustangs will travel to Bennett County, SD on Friday night before hosting Mullen on Saturday afternoon.
