Lady Hawks take disappointing losses

The Lady Hawks lost a close game against the Crawford Rams Friday night, and fell by a large margin to the Lady Broncos of Mullen on Saturday night.  

Friday, the Lady Hawks fell behind early, trailing 10-3 before the Lady Hawks took their first lead of the game 13-12 on two freethrows from Kate Roberts.  The Lady Rams answered the Hawks quickly and outscored the Lady Hawks 11-2 in the final 4 minutes of the half to lead 23-15 at the break.  

The Lady Hawks closed the Rams gap to two 32-30 at the end of the third quarter, and the two teams traded baskets throughout the fourth quarter before two freethrows with 20 seconds left from the Rams’ Rylee Hanks helped seal the four point win for the Rams.  

The Lady Hawks were led in scoring by Whitney Heiting who finished with 9 points.  Steph Tlustos added 7 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals.  Elizabeth Roberts also finished the game with 7 points and 10 rebounds.  The Lady Rams were led by Rylee Hanks who finished the game with 17 points.

Saturday night, the Mullen Lady Broncos outscored the Lady Hawks in all four quarters to roll to a 47-16 victory over the Lady Hawks.  The Broncos held the Lady Hawks scoreless in the first quarter and outscored them 13-11 to hold a 25-11 lead at the half.  

The Broncos defense held the Lady Hawks to just 5 points in the second half as they continued to dominate the Hawks in the final two quarters.  

The Lady Hawks were led by Stephanie Tlustos who finished with 6 points and 5 steals. The Hawks and Lady Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday, December 11, when they travel to Morrill to take on the Lions.  The Hawks will also play Bayard on Friday in Bayard.
