Horrocks Leads the Way at Hot Springs

Stevin Horrocks finished 2nd at the Two-Day Hot Springs Holiday Extravaganza on December 14 and 15 in South Dakota to lead the way for the Hay Springs wrestling team.  Horrocks started off the day with a win over Taylor Alcorn of Crawford and won by pin and decision over Philip Zimiga and Marquis Trujillo before falling in the finals to Josh Hunt of Douglas, South Dakota in a close 4-3 decision. 

Chris Ray finished 3rd in the 120 lb. weight class finishing the weekend 4-1.  Ray won his first two matches and then lost by pin to Logan Wood of Rapid City Stevens JV before winning his final two matches, one by pin and one by decision over Gene Trimble of Spearfish. 

Levi Ray went 3-2 in the two day contest to finish in 4th place.  The 126 lb. Ray won a tight decision 4-3 over Richey Weischedel of Rapid City Stevens JV and won by pin over Nate Tilley of Douglas before losing his third round match 9-5 to Zeph Irion of Spearfish.  Ray then defeated Weischedel again 5-4 before losing to Brady Jandreau of Lyman. 

Jake Johnson finished in 6th place for the Hawks in the 132 lb. class while older brother Joey Johnson finished 7th in the 138 lb. class.  

The Hawks will be in action again on December 29, at the Neuman Groves Duals in Neuman Grove.
