Hawks Earn Comeback Victory

The Hawks boys basketball team put together a fantastic second half of basketball Thursday night to earn a great comeback victory over Class D Highway 20 rival Cody-Kilgore.  The Hawks trailed by just two points after the first quarter 11-9 but slipped behind by eight at the half 24-16.  The second half was all Hay Springs as the Hawks outscored the Cowboys 30-14 for the exciting 46-38 come from behind win.  The Hawks were led by their lone senior Regg Strotheide who finished with 20 points and 6 steals.  Jordan Encinia added 13 for the Hawks.  The Cowboys also placed two players in double figures led by Dustin Gourd with 16.  Austin Wobig added 10.  The Hawks teams were unable to play their Friday or Saturday games because of the weather.  Reschedule dates have not yet been set.  The Hawks will open Panhandle Conference tournament play this week against Edgemont in Crawford on Tuesday.
