Charmayne Strong, Jessica Bragg, Cody Darnell and Brandy Bailey all competed at the Sate High School rodeo finals last week in Hastings. They were all hoping to make a good showing to get them to the National Finals in Rock Springs, Wyoming in July. The first go-round was on Thursday, the second go-round was Friday and the top ten got to come back to the short go-round to determine the top four qualifiers to represent Nebraska at the national finals.
Charmayne had a good finals-she was third in the first go-round of the pole bending and breakaway calf roping. In the second go-round she was second in the goat tying, fifth in the breakaway roping and sixth in the pole bending. She was the overall winner of the average in the breakaway calf roping with her strong finishes in both go-rounds. She made it to the short round in goat tying and pole bending. She was third in the short go-round of pole bending and second in the average of pole bending. She ended up fourth overall in the pole bending and will be representing Nebraska at the national finals. She ended up eighth in the goat tying for the year.
Cody and his team roping pardner JT Adamson of Cody were third in the second go-round of team roping. They just missed making it to the short round in the team roping.
Jessica and Brandy failed to place but will be ready to start up again this fall to start earning points for next years finals.
Good Luck at National Finals Charmayne!
