Lady Mustangs fall to tough Cardinals team in season opener

The Lady Mustang volleyball team suffered a tough loss 3-0 to the Chadron Lady Cardinals in their season opener at home last Thursday night. The girls showed great promise for the season, but were unable to come up with the win.

The Lady Mustangs lost the first set of the night 25-11, followed by another tough set, in which they fell 25-7. They fought valiantly in the third set, scoring 19 before Chadron reached 25.

Shania Freeseman had one ace in the game, one block and six digs. Ashton Sasse had two aces and 11 digs. Kenna Campbell had three digs. Josie Perez had one kill and four digs. Dani Campbell had one kill and three blocks. Denie Jacobson had two kills, one block and 11 digs in the match. Hali Sahr had two aces, three kills and six digs.

The Lady Mustangs will travel to Bayard this Thursday for their second match of the season at 4:30 p.m. They will be hosting the G-R Invite Saturday, September 14, at the Gordon and Rushville gyms. The tournament begins at 8 a.m.
