A large contingent of local supporters followed the Chadron State Eagles to Dallas, Texas on Thursday. The Eagles travelled to Dallas to take part in the Lone Star Football Festival as they squared off against West Texas A&M University. The game was played in AT&T Stadium, better known as Cowboys Stadium and is a state-of-the-art, three million square foot facility that is a fabulous venue for a football game. Many Eagles fans took advantage of the opportunity to take in the awe-inspiring environment along with a large group of Gordon and Rushville residents who went to support our local students who now attend CSC.
Many of the Eagle supporters gathered at Buffalo Wild Wings just north of the stadium for a pre-game gathering. Connie Rasmussen, Executive Director of the Chadron State College Foundation who set up the event said, “We were planning for around 50 people, but ended up with over 200!” In fact, the entire restaurant and bar were taken over by Eagle supporters as they got ready to head for the game.
The Eagles started off strong in the nationally televised contest, but were unable to hold on as West Texas A&M kicked a late field goal to win the game. Nevertheless, this was a great experience for players and fans alike to see local students participate on such a large stage.
