The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs suffered their sixth loss of the season Friday night at the hands of the Ogallala Indians, 33-0.
The Mustangs showed great promise, with many successful plays, but Ogallala pulled ahead early, scoring 7 with 2:30 left in the first quarter. On the ensuing kickoff, the Mustangs failed to cover the ball and an Indian fell on it at the 24 yard line. Ogallala took advantage of the Mustang mistake and quickly scored again to go up 14-0 with 2:00 left in the first quarter.
With time winding down in the second quarter, Ogallala scored their third touchdown from the Mustang one-yard-line to go up 21-0 at the half.
The Mustangs had a chance to score midway through the third quarter, reaching the Ogallala eight-yard-line before being stopped by the Indians on fourth down. Ogallala responded by scoring their fourth touchdown of the game three minutes later to go up 27-0.
The Mustangs weren’t about to give up, and began marching down the field, but Ogallala intercepted the ball around midfield and made a big return. The Indians scored their final touchdown of the game shortly thereafter to go up 33-0.
