Lady Hawks soar over Garden County Eagles

On Tuesday, October 29, the Lady Hawks were able to pull off a four-set victory over the Lady Eagles of Garden County. The Lady Hawks had a slow start and dropped the first set, 16-25. After that, the Lady Hawks were able to get it together, winning the final three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-19. 

Leading in service points for the Hawks was Kate Roberts with 5 aces and 13 points, followed by Cydney Jancik, who added 1 ace and 11 points, and Whitney Heiting, who had 2 aces and 9 points. Defensively, Cydney Jancik had 18 digs and Steph Tlustos added 11. Cydney Jancik and Steph Tlustos put down 7 kills each, with Whitney Heiting adding 6. The two setters, Jesse Heiting and Steph Tlustos, had 11 and 7 assists respectively, and Cydney Jancik and Kate Roberts each adding an assist.  Kate Roberts had 3 blocks and Jen Scherbarth had 1.

The Lady Hawks’ final regular season game is Friday, November 1, where they will face off against Little Wound and Cody-Kilgore in a triangular at home. The first game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., in which Hay Springs will play Little Wound. The Lady Hawks will also play the third game against Cody-Kilgore.  

The Lady Hawks will also be in subdistrict action at the Chadron Middle School Gym on Tuesday, November 5, where they are the #1 seed and will take on #4 seed Sioux County at 4 p.m.
