Hawks split duals

The Hay Springs Hawks wrestling team faced off with two teams on Saturday, Feb. 8, Hemingford and Bayard.

The Hawks defeated Bayard 42-18 with only one match wrestled at 113 pounds. Every other weight was a forfeit by one team or both.

At 113 pounds, Hay Springs’ Brittany Ferguson pinned Kenny Wohl of Hemingford in 3:47 to give Hay Springs 6 points.

The Hawks lost to Bayard 42-24.

At 113 pounds, Brittany Ferguson Won by forfeit.

At 126 pounds, Levi Ray pinned Bayard’s Hilaria Esparza-Garcia.

At 132 pounds, Chris Ray beat Bayard’s Robert Niezwaag 10-4.

At 138 pounds, Robert Miller of Bayard pinned Joey Johnson in 5:00.

At 145 pounds, Jake Johnson pinned Bayard’s Lucas Jones in 5:00.

Hay Springs gave up four forfeits in a row from 152-182 pounds.

At 195 pounds, Tanner Willey of Bayard pinned Tyler Merritt in 1:00.

At 220 pounds, Stevin Horrocks beat Bayard’s Tristan Hunter 3-2.

Hay Springs gave up another forfeit at 285 pounds.

The Hawks will travel to North Platte this Friday and Saturday to compete in the District Tournament. Go Hawks!!
