Eight Sheridan County Wrestlers Qualify for State Tournament

Sheridan County will once again be very well represented at the Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament next weekend in Omaha with four Hay Springs Hawks and four Gordon-Rushville Mustangs qualifying.

For the Mustangs, Garrett Shadbolt took second at districts at 113 pounds, improving his record to 26-10. Cole Witt took second at 126 pounds to improve his record to 31-11. Casey Glassgow finished second at 145 to improve his record to 36-8. Ken Graham won the district at 170 to improve his record to 38-5.

For the Hawks, Levi Ray pinned his way to first at 126 pounds at districts, improving his record to 29-2. Chris Ray finished second at 132 pounds to improve his record to 29-6. Joey Johnson finished second at 138 pounds to improve his record to 20-12. Stevin Horrocks also pinned his way to first to improve his record to 37-1.

The State Tournament will start Thursday, February 20, at the Century Link Center in Omaha.
