Cody Darnell was the all-around cowboy at the Sheridan County High School Rodeo this past weekend. All of the Sheridan County team competed in Gordon on Saturday and Valentine on Sunday.
At the rodeo on Saturday Cody won both the tie down roping and the team roping to clinch the all-around title. He won the tie down roping with a time of 10.36 seconds. Cody and his pardner Riley Wakefield of Oneill won the team roping with a quick time of 6.98 seconds.
Both of the Sheridan county cowgirls placed in the goat tying. Charmayne Strong was third with a time of 8.45 seconds. Jessica Bragg was ninth with a time of 9.89 seconds. The event was won by Linzie VanHorn of Page with a time of 7.90 seconds.
Brock Henry placed sixth in the steer wrestling with a time of 8.39 seconds. The event was won by Kalane Anders of Bayard with a time of 5.97 seconds. Brock also placed ninth in the steer wrestling at Valentine with a time of 12.24 seconds. The event was won by Tanner Stec of Bassett with a time of 4.76 seconds. Brock was the only team member to place at Valentine.
