Both the girls and boys Jr. High Hawk track teams finished in 5th place in the team standings at the Gordon-Rushville track meet on Friday the 13th.
The girls squad was led by Katrena Ryan who finished with three individual placings. Ryan finished 3rd in the high jump with a jump of 4’4”, 3rd in the 100 meter dash in :14.16, and 5th in the 200 meter dash in :30.16. Sydney Tlustos finished 3rd in both the shot put and the discus for the Lady Hawks. Tlustos threw the shot put 21’2 1/2” and the discus 56’8”. Alexis Olson finished 4th in the discus with a throw of 54’10” to round out the scoring for the Jr. Hawks. The girls squad finished with 30 team points.
Individually, Austin Reed led the Hawks with three placings. Reed finished 2nd in the triple jump with a jump of 33’5”, 3rd in the long jump with a jump of 15’2”, and 4th in the 100 meter dash. Two other Hawks placed in the triple jump. Garrett Weyers finished 4th with a jump of 29’1 1/2”, and Jake Johnson finished 6th with a jump of 28’4”. Weyers also finished 4th in the discus with a throw of 87’2”. The teams final scoring came in the mile relay. The team consisting of Shane Vifquain, Wesley Tlustos, Garrett Weyers, and Jake Johnson finished 5th in the mile relay. As a team, the Hawks finished 5th with 27 points.
