The Mustang track team travelled to Valentine last Friday to compete in the Valentine Invite. The boys came up with a big win with 141.5 points thanks to some excellent distance running. The girls came in fourth with 76 points.
Hali Sahr finished 7th in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of 13.87 seconds.
Hannah Andersen finished a close second in the 400 with a time of 1:02.9, just .4 seconds behind Tessa Gale in first. Cirsten Hinn finished fourth with a time of 1:08.4, followed by Brandi Roth in 8th in 1:14.9.
Denie Jacobson finished 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:46.55, followed by Rachel Johnson in 6th in 2:47.6.
Dani Welnitz dominated the distance events, winning the girls 1600 in a time of 5:37.3, and the 3200 by nearly a minute with a time of 12:22.8. Denie Jacobson finished 5th in the 1600 with a time of 6:03.9.
Hali Sahr came in 5th in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 17.06 seconds, followed by Cali Mulcahy in 17.97. Cali finished 4th in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.18 seconds, and Hali Sahr finished 6th in 55.1 seconds. Anna Shadbolt finished 8th with a time of 59.25.
The girls 4x100 relay team of Cirsten Hinn, Cali Mulcahy, Hali Sahr and Anna Shadbolt finished 2nd with a time of 54.31 seconds.
The 4x400 team of Hannah Andersen, Cali Mulcahy, Jordan Shadbolt and Anna Shadbolt finished 3rd with a time of 4:30.74.
The 4x800 team of Hannah Andersen, Denie Jacobson, Rachel Johnson and Dani Wellnitz came in first with a time of 10:46.30.
Cirsten Hinn finished 11th in the long jump with a jump of 12’ 4.5”.
Brittany Hoagland finished 8th in the triple jump with a distance of 27’ 9.25”.
Shayley Coburn came in 14th in the girls shot put with a throw of 21’ 5”.
Sarah Marlatt finished 2nd in the discus with a throw of 117’ 7”.
In the boys 100 meter dash, John Tullis finished 5th with a time of 11.89 seconds.
Daniele Marozzi finished 4th in the boys 200 with a time of 24.14 seconds. Tristan Tuma took 7th in 25.13 seconds.
Trisan Tuma finished 9th in the 400 with a time of 58.5 seconds, followed by Isaiah Little Moon in 11th in 58.8 seconds.
Cole Wellnitz dominated the distance events on the boys side, racking up 30 team points on his own, and helping the 4x400 team to another 10. Gary Kaplan also had a great meet earning the Mustangs 16 points on his own, and another 20 as part of the 4x4 and 4x8 relay teams.
The Mustangs controlled the boys 800, with Cole Wellnitz taking first in 2:04.05, Gary Kaplan following in 2nd in 2:09.59, and James Neeley in 3rd in 2:13.86.
Wellnitz won the 1600 with a time of 4:32.6. Colin Sell came in 12th with a time of 6:54.2.
Cole Wellnitz won the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:45.9, followed by Gary Kaplan in 2nd in 10:56.2, and Matt Downing in 7th in 12:08.6.
Ryan Burdine finished 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.6 seconds. Burdine also took 2nd in the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.35 seconds.
The boys 4x100 relay team of Daniele Marozzi, John Tullis, Tristan Tuma and Ryan Burdine finished 2nd with a time of 48.18 seconds.
The 4x400 relay team of Gary Kaplan, Isaiah Little Moon, James Neeley and Cole Wellnitz came in first with a time of 3:45.4.
The 4x800 team of Isaiah Little Moon, Matt Downing, James Neeley and Gary Kaplan also took first with a time of 9:00.9.
Both Cole Beaver and Lex Haller jumped 5’ 6” in the high jump, with Beaver taking 5th and Haller 6th. Cody Campbell jumped 5’ 4”, which was good enough for 7th place.
Cody Campbell finished 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 18’ 10”, followed by Daniele Marozzi in 3rd with a jump of 18’ 9.5”. Cody Campbell also came in second in the triple jump with a jump of 38’ 10”.
Ben Wegner finished 4th in the shot put with a throw of 39’ 0.5”. Lemur Gardner came in 6th with a throw of 38’ 5.5”. Lucas Irving threw 29’ 3”, which was good enough for 15th.
Lemur Gardner took 3r in the discus with a throw of 122’, followed by Ben Wegner in 4th with a throw of 115’ 9”. Lucas Irving finished 16th with a throw of 76’ 3”.
The Mustangs will be competing in the District meet Thursday, May 10, in Hershey, Neb.
