Jr. High rodeo team does well at first rodeo

The first Nebraska junior high rodeo of the spring was held in Ord, Nebraska on May 5 and 6. Despite a lot of rain and hail, the contestants from Gordon and Rushville did very well.

 

In the first rodeo, Cody Darnell was 4th place in the calf roping, 1st place in the goat tying, and 2nd in the team roping with his partner, JT Adamson of Cody, Neb.

Morgan Darnell was 3rd place in the goat tying, and 1st place in the ribbon roping with her partner Levi Walter, from Colorado. Brock Henry was 5th in the chute dogging and 7th in the goat tying. Blake Henry was 3rd in the ribbon roping with his partner Maddee Doerr.

In the second rodeo, Cody Darnell placed 1st in the calf roping, 9th in the chute dogging, 2nd in the goat tying, 4th in the team roping, and 4th in the ribbon roping with his partner Megan Turek. Cody finished the weekend with the average winner buckle in both goat tying and calf roping. He was also the all around cowboy. Morgan Darnell placed 9th in the barrels and 1st in the team roping with her partner, Morgan Kessler from Callaway, Neb. Brock was 2nd in the chute dogging and 5th in the team roping with his partner, Corey Larson. Blake placed 8th in the goat tying and 10th in the ribbon roping.

The next rodeo will be in Johnstown, Nebraska on May 19-20.
