Two Hawks tracksters brought back hardware from the Nebraska State track meet in Omaha last weekend, while the girls two mile relay team ran their best time of the season.
Stevin Horrocks led the charge in Omaha by finishing 4th in the 300 meter hurdles. Horrocks qualified for the finals by finishing second in his heat in a time of 41.97 seconds to have the 5th fastest time entering the finals. Horrocks took three tenths of a second off his time in the finals to finish 4th in a time of 41.66 seconds.
Austin Weyers went 42’ 3 1/2” in the triple jump to finish 7th and 20’ 3/4,” which put him out of medal contention but left him sitting 11th overall. Both Horrocks and Weyers competed in last year’s meet, but neither one placed in the top eight.
On the girls side, the two mile relay team made up of Jerilyn and Jenn Scherbarth, Brittany Ferguson, and Michaela Metcalf ran their best time of the season with a 10:42.1, good enough for 14th place overall. Individually, Jerilyn Scherbarth finished 14th of 22 runners in two mile in a time of 13:15.05.
