The Gordon Legion baseball team was knocked out of the area C1 tournament Monday night after a valiant effort to fight their way back to the championship. The team faced Creighton for the second time in the tournament, this time to advance to the semi-final game. After taking a 24-13 loss to Creighton in the opening game of the tournament, Gordon went on to defeat Madison, Crofton and Neligh by impressive margins. Monday night's game was a much closer match with Creighton winning 9-4 to knock Gordon out of the tournament.
The Gordon Legion baseball team is on a roll at the area C1 tournament in Neligh, winning three in a row as they advance through the consolation bracket. After downing Madison 19-1 on Friday night, the team went on to beat #3 Crofton out of the tournament Saturday morning, although no stats or scores are available for the game. Sunday night the team faced #6 Neligh, who beat Crofton in the first round 12-1. No stats are available for the game, but Gordon was able to beat the home team out of the tournament 15-8. Gordon now prepares for a tough rematch against #4 Creighton, who dealt them their first loss of the tournament last Thursday night 24-13. The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Monday night in Neligh.
The Gordon Legion baseball team needed a win to stay alive in the area one playoff tournament in Neligh after a tough loss to #4 Creighton Thursday night. Gordon faced off against Madison Friday night, who came off a big loss to Ainsworth Thursday afternoon. Gordon came out swinging with doubles by Chaz Piper and Daylan Black Calf, and at the end of 5 innings, racked up 19 runs to Madison's 1.
The team will now face #3 Crofton Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Crofton comes off a 12-1 loss to #6 Neligh.
The Gordon Legion baseball team played their first playoff game Thursday in Neligh against a tough #4 rated Creighton team. After six innings, Creighton came out on top 24-13. The only stat currently available is that Ty Hansen hit a double in the game.
